Michael Mcgarry


Mike is the Beaches, Boating and Waterways Program Manager for Brevard County. He holds a BS in Marine Biology from UNCW and a MS in Coastal Zone Management from Florida Tech. He loves the ocean, and has a passion for offshore sailing adventures.

Brandon Smith


Brandon served on the board of the Sea Turtle Preservation Society from 2003 to 2010 before becoming President of Friends of the Carr Refuge. He worked within the Archie Carr Refuge from 1999-2000. Brandon has been an environmental educator for the past 18 years and recently started a position with Brevard County Natural Resources Save Our Indian River Lagoon Program. 

Vince Lamb

Volunteer Champion

Vince is a retired computer software developer with an active involvement in natural Florida. A Florida Master Naturalist Program graduate and a Certified Interpretive Guide, he serves as a sea turtle walk volunteer at the Barrier Island Center. He is also a member of the Procedures Committee for the Brevard County Environmentally Endangered Lands Program.

Rachel Lau


Rachel is an attorney who lives in Melbourne, Florida. Before moving to Florida in 2012 she practiced law in North Carolina. Rachel's family ingrained the importance of wildlife conservation from a young age which drives her involvement with Friends of the Carr Refuge.

Dina Rulli


Dina Rulli is the co-founder and owner of SUP Eco Asventures, LLC - an environmentally responsible Stand Up Paddle Boarding company based in Melbourne Beach, FL. She is passionate about sharing her love of the outdoors and appreciation of nature through experiential training.  After a career in the financial industry, she now enjoys hanging out with our local dolphins and manatees!

Quintin Bergman

Projects & Programs Coordinator

Quintin Bergman is the Sea Turtle Environmental Specialist for Indian River County. He is responsible for the Countywide monitoring, education, lighting and predator programs focused on local sea turtles. Quintin has worked in the sea turtle conservation field for the past 4 years and recently earned a Master's degree from Purdue University Fort Wayne. He brings sea turtle conservation experience from projects in Greece and Costa Rica to the team, in hopes of bringing a positive impact to the Refuge. When not working with turtles, you can find Quintin fishing in the lagoon or bird watching. 

Peter Presland-Byrne

Peter Presland-Byrne is a CIO for a national financial services organization and shares his families passion for the environment, wildlife, and scuba diving. This passion has led to Peter also serving on the board of the Florida Wildlife Hospital and becoming involved in a global project around waste management and plastics reclamation. Peter and his family relocated to Melbourne Beach in 2018 and are originally from England but have been in the US for 21 years.
