This annual pop-up fundraiser kicks off in February each year and provides a fun way to spread community awareness of the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge and the sea turtles who nest there each year.
How it Works
It's a bit like a game of tag. Once someone nominates your yard to get "hatched" you then nominate another yard and away the hatchlings go. The hatchlings "incubate" in a lawn for three days until they "emerge" and migrate a to another yard. It's meant to be a fun surprise and way to raise community awareness of the arrival of sea turtle nesting season on the Refuge.
